The sorter parses nonblank lines and orders them alphabetically, numerically, or in reverse according to the selected mode.

Limits to know

Sorting applies to parsed nonblank lines using the selected lexical or numeric mode. Locale collation, embedded numbers, mixed data types, and header rows may require review.
