Overtime Pay Calculator
Estimate regular, overtime, and total gross pay for a workweek.
Overtime Pay Calculator result
What this means: 8 user-classified overtime hours at 1.5× add $300.00, producing $1,300.00 total weekly gross pay.
Formula, assumptions & limitations
Inputs used: Regular hourly rate ($); Regular hours this workweek; Overtime hours this workweek; Overtime multiplier.
Method: Total gross pay = regular hourly rate × regular hours + regular hourly rate × overtime multiplier × overtime hours. The overtime premium alone is the overtime-hours pay above straight time.
You must classify regular and overtime hours; the tool does not determine the threshold. Under the federal FLSA, covered nonexempt employees generally receive at least 1.5 times the regular rate after 40 hours in a workweek, but eligibility and the legal regular rate can differ from the entered base rate. State law, bonuses, multiple rates, union terms, and employer policy may change the calculation.

How this tool works
Weekly gross pay equals regular hourly rate × regular hours plus regular hourly rate × overtime multiplier × overtime hours. Overtime premium isolates only the amount above straight-time pay.
Assumptions
The visitor classifies regular and overtime hours. The multiplier applies to the entered regular hourly rate; the tool does not determine eligibility or the legal regular rate.
Limits to know
The calculation uses hours the visitor classifies as regular or overtime and the entered multiplier; it does not determine an overtime threshold or legal eligibility. Applicable law, union agreements, blended rates, bonuses, and employer policy may change pay.
