How this tool works

Percentage decrease is calculated as (original value − new value) ÷ the absolute original value × 100, while the absolute decrease remains original value minus new value.

Limits to know

A starting value of zero has no finite percentage decrease. Results above 100% or negative decreases are possible when the new value crosses zero or exceeds the start.
