How this tool works

Percentage increase is calculated as (new value − original value) ÷ the absolute original value × 100, while the absolute increase remains new value minus original value.

Limits to know

A starting value of zero has no finite percentage increase. Negative starting values are calculated algebraically and may not match the intended business interpretation.
