How this tool works
Percentage change is calculated as (new value − starting value) ÷ the absolute starting value × 100.
Limits to know
A zero starting value has no finite percentage change. For a negative starting value, the calculator divides by the absolute starting value so the sign communicates the direction of change; this is not the symmetric percentage-difference formula.
